One of the greatest things I get to do with my children is Family Worship!
Here in our home we have taught our 6 children ages 2-12 (one on the way) to worship and Study Gods word with us almost from the time they are 2.
Yes sometimes it can be hectic and of course satan hates it that we are "brain washing our kids". Dont let the world or unsaved Family members fool you, i want my kids to be so heavenly minded their no earthly good.
Anyhoo.... every morning we have Chapel Services,
I play 3 worship songs, a hymn and begin reading through the Old Testament. To break it up and make it more fun, I have us all read sections, 5-7 verses and then we discuss it and continue on.
The littles ones color a bible picture and when their all done they tell us what it is.
At the close of approx 15-25 min we all pray for specific and meaningful things, as opposed to "God Bless my lizard" or "my doll".
By example, the little ones want to mimmick the older ones and want to pray too.
Of course it doesnt always go as smooth as it sounds and it didnt start out this way either.
It took time and of course the Rod of Correction to keep them focused and in the flow of what we do every morning as a Family.
As a Pastor we also have evening Home Bible Study Groups over during the week and the children also sit in on those. The consistency of our Morning Chapel Services have paid off during these times because they are used to it.
When they show discontentment and the rebellion on their faces, it is quickly taken care of in another room and we resume the uninterupted study.
Whether you are a Homeschooler or not, single parent or large family be consistent with your family worship time, and your child should soon be able to sit through a church service with you and not be a distraction to those around you. The Reward is great even though it may sound like they are dying.
Note: It may be difficult to find a Church where they will allow you to sit as a family, dont be discouraged Chuches will catch on sooner or later.....
