Mountain Family Homeschool
Academy seeks to provide a program where the parents maintain
sole responsibility and rights to educate their children according
to their personal convictions, within the guidelines of the California
State Laws. This program is ideally comprised of ten basic elements.
They are:
1. A loving, caring, relationship between the student and
teacher;
2. A supportive, non-stressful environment;
3. The lowest
possible student/teacher ratio;
4. Education in subjects specified
by Education Code 48200 and 4822 andschool attendance of approximately
180 days per student per school year;
5. An individualized curriculum
devised for the student to learn at his own rate with special attention
paid to physical, emotional, and educational readiness;
6. Hands-on
learning to reinforce educational retention;
7. Utilization of additional
educational resources and people from within the school and surrounding
community;
8. Support and socialization for teachers and students;
9. A private school where our Christian views and convictions
are respected by each other and;
10. An enrollment application stating
the parents personal reasons/convictions for home educating along
with a statement of faith, to be kept in personal files
MFHA will file a private school affidavit with the State of California. This establishes us as a private school, and assures your anonymity with the State. You simply become a number, as a teacher and students, with your name appearing only in our confidential files;
MFHA will obtain, store, and maintain each student's cumulative records a.k.a. cum file;
MFHA will confidentially store and update each family's personal file which includes an enrollment application and other personal information provided by the teacher;
MFHA will provide park days and field trips for student's socialization and education. Various activities and events are provided during the year dependent upon parent participation as Coordinators and Assistants
.
Home School legal defense Association membership
is required yearly by all enrolled families
(1st - 12th grade only).
HSLDA provides legal defense for families who elect to educate their
children at home, should they ever need it.

Home education allows
for one on one teaching with individualized curriculum devised for
the student to learn at his own rate with special attention being
paid to spiritual, physical, emotional and educational readiness;
thus the parents have greater control over the character development
of their children.
We believe the following areas are of utmost importance
to the home educator.
Who we Are and What we do
We are in no way responsible for the actual teaching and academic progress of your children. It is the teaching parent's responsibility to instruct their children in all areas of their well-being and development. Due to the precarious political and legal position of "home" type schools, we do not guarantee immunity from harassment.
Although we are a legitimate school, not all public school officials accept the legality of home schooling. Therefore, we do require all of our families to join the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) which provides quality legal advice and defense for members should they ever need it.
