I know that for the person reading this, may seem
as though you'll never be set free.
But I know from
experience that you can be set free. Its not easy and it takes alot of patience, spiritual strength, (even though you feel like you
don't have any) It takes a real desire to come back to Jesus and
your family again. Ready?
If you are, there will be many verses
to be read and some memory involved. Still ready?
Col 3:1-3
If
then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind
on things above, not on things on the earth. NKJV
It begins with
seeking the things above. That means you have to first pray....
1.
Begin to pray, even if you don't feel like it, ask God to forgive you,
even if you don't feel like He will. Pray even if you think you
don't deserve His mercy, Its ok, you don't deserve it, but God is gracious
and His promise is that His Mercies are new every morning! He
will Forgive you!
Like the Father in the prodigal son in Luke 15: 1,
He is running half way down the road to meet with you and to fall
on your neck weeping, if you will just utter the words "Father forgive
me", He's willing.
2. Begin to read your bible, read your old
favorite verses again. Why?
Because the battle fought for your
soul begins in the mind.
Rom 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do
not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your mind... NKJV
Eph 4:22-24
22 that you put off, concerning your
former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful
lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you
put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness
and holiness. NKJV
Pornography is the only drug or euphoric high, that
you don't have to go to the liquor store for, drug dealers or even porn
shops to get. If you've seen enough, its already in
your mind. You don't have to go anywhere to satisfy the lust of your
flesh. All you have to do is allow a thought to travel and your
in sin, enough sin and the hardness of your heart keeps you mentally
and spiritually away from anything that brings life and light into
your heart.
Yes this is why you always feel so distant from your
friends and family, especially your wife.
So by reading your
Bible, Jesus will begin transforming and renewing your mind and the
desire for your addiction will, in most cases, slowly die and then you
will be set free!.
Notice I
didn't say the relentless thoughts and pictures would just disappear.
3.
Begin taking your thoughts captive.
2 Cor 10:3-6
3 For though
we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling
down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that
exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ....
NKJV
This is where you
have to have the desire to allow what God is now doing
through the Word
(the transforming and renewing of your
mind) to give you the spiritual strength.
And to not
allow the thoughts and picture to start your flesh in motion. Take your thoughts captive to obedience. Don't let Satan use
your mind as his playground any longer!
This
is where most bail out, they entertain the thoughts and once
again failure, defeat, and Satan, stomp on your progress.
But
God has not rejected you and it is His desire that you get back up
and start all over again and again and again..... you get the picture.
God is the God of Secon Chances!
