Let them see it…. So, you see, sin does runs in the family. As Parent’s, we need to have the character we want to see in our children.
Gods Word; We must be reading Gods Word, allowing the lord to fill us with His wisdom for the day. Let them see you praying and repenting over Gods word. By so doing you will teach them to read and study the Bible.
Testimony; Let them see you excited about what God has done in your life. And they will be excited about their daily walk!
Praying; Let them find you on your knees praying or sprawled out on the floor pouring your heart out to your loving Savior. By so doing you will teach them to pray!
Serving? Let them see you serving your church. Have them help as a family. It will teach them that there is more to just being a Christian. It will also show them how to serve and with what attitude and motives. (Because you love Jesus)
Building Godly Character; When I begin living out the character I want my children to have, they will imitate it. Paul said "Imitate me even as I Imitate Christ"
Pastor Chuck Smith once said "give 5 minutes with one of your children and I will tell you what kind of parent you are"
Being a Christ like example is difficult, it is tuff, we all struggle and we have all failed. But when we consistently dust our selves off and attempt again, they will imitate that too. Real life is the greatest teacher.
Again, I’m not saying it’s easy, it will take some time, (your whole life) accompanied with the ever-persistent Rod of Correction. But you will see the fruit; both in their lives and in your own.
Strangers in restaurants?
Before you know it your relatives, friends, neighbors and even strangers in restaurants will be complimenting and asking you for your secret to parenting.
Yes.... this is your opportunity to them what Jesus has done in you and through you!
Proverbs 17:6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their father’s.
God Bless!
